Rudolf Dilong is a representative of Slovak catholic modernism.He was born in 1905 in the town  Trstena. After the graduation he joined a Franciscan order. He was ordained on 29th June 1929 in  Nitra. He settled in Roma. Later, in 1965, he moved into the  USA. He couldn´t come back to his native country any more. He died in Pittsburg on 15th April 1986 and he was burried there.

In honour of Rudolf Dilong the slovak poetry and prose reading competition called DILONG´S  TRSTENA holds

in our town each year in July.
